It's pride month! I'm so excited for this year's pride. For this blog, I wanted to talk about someone who had a big impact on pride even being a thing. She is such a big reason so many people feel comfortable being themselves and the reason they had a festival to go to. Her name is Marsha P. Johnson. She was born on August 24, 1945. She was one of the first trans-black women. She spoke put for gay and LGBTQ+ rights. She was a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front and co-founded the radical activist group Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries. She had 6 siblings and a father. She originally used the name " Black Marsha" then changed her drag name to Marsha P. Johnson. She died at the age of 46. Pride is such a big deal to so many people and pride is more important than ever with the times we find ourselves in.
